On a dark and gloomy Halloween night we welcomed guests to the grand hall of Wentworth Woodhouse, for the launch of our new exhibition 'Fractured'.
This exhibition made visible the unknown Black Georgian community of Rotherham and revealed some of the earliest recorded African-descended people in South Yorkshire.
Audiences were treated to some incredible live music and poetry performances for the launch. Otis Mensah and Seigfried Komidashi presented a gorgeous ode to French horn players Romulus and Remus, as well as the other Black lives featured in the exhibition.
They were followed by our very own Désirée Reynolds who recited her commissioned poem, 'Fractured', to the deeply resonant and emotive tones of Chris Morris on double bass.
